Free Side Hustle Profit Per Hour Calculator
A side hustle that brings in $600 a month can pay well or badly depending on what it costs and how many hours it really takes. Enter a month (or a single job) below, counting all the time: making or doing the work, listing and messaging, and packing and shipping.
It runs in your browser. Nothing you type is saved or sent anywhere. The numbers filled in below are a made-up example; change them to yours.

Hours:
How the math works
- Profit = money in − all costs.
- Profit per hour = profit ÷ every hour you spent, not just the hours making the product.
- After tax set-aside = profit × (100% − your set-aside %) ÷ hours. The set-aside percent is your own estimate; see the side hustle tax calculator for a fuller one.
Example (made up): $600 in, $180 in costs and 30 hours is $420 profit, or $14.00 an hour. After setting aside 25% for tax, it's $10.50 an hour, which is $4.50 an hour less than a $15 hourly job.
This is general information, not financial or tax advice.
Track it every month
The Side Hustle Income Tracker ($7) is a spreadsheet that logs income, fees, expenses and business miles for up to 8 side hustles and shows profit by month and by stream, with a tax set-aside at a percent you choose. Divide a month's profit by your hours to get profit per hour. Works in Excel and Google Sheets.
