Free Reseller Profit Calculator: Profit, Margin and ROI per Item

A $45 sale isn't $45 in your pocket. The platform takes a cut, payment processing takes a cut, and shipping and supplies come out before you get back what you paid. Enter one item's numbers to see what it actually made, plus the lowest price that still breaks even.

It runs in your browser. Nothing you type is saved or sent anywhere. The numbers filled in below are a made-up example, including the fee rates; fees differ by platform and change often, so check your platform's current fee page and type in your own.

How the math works

• Platform fee = sale price × platform fee %.
• Payment fee = sale price × payment fee % + the fixed fee.
• Profit = sale price − both fees − shipping − supplies − what you paid.
• Margin = profit ÷ sale price. ROI = profit ÷ what you paid.
• Break-even price = (what you paid + shipping + supplies + fixed fee) ÷ (1 − both fee percentages).

Example (made up): an item bought for $8 sells for $45. A 13% platform fee is $5.85 and a 3% + $0.30 payment fee is $1.65, $7.50 in fees. Shipping is $7.50 and supplies $1.00. Profit is $21.00, a 46.7% margin and a 262.5% ROI on the $8. Below $20.00 it would lose money.

Some platforms charge their fee on the shipping the buyer pays and on sales tax too, and some add ad or promotion fees, so your real fees can be higher than this shows. This doesn't count your time, gas to go sourcing, or income tax on the profit. It's an estimate for planning, not financial or tax advice.
