Holiday Printables Checklist: Gift Tags, Planner, Lists
By Cedar & Ledger
A few printed pages can keep the holidays organized: one place for the budget, one list for sales, and tags so gifts are labeled before they go under the tree. Here's what to print and when to use each.
Key 2026 dates: Black Friday is Friday, Nov 27; Cyber Monday is Monday, Nov 30; Christmas is Friday, Dec 25.
Quick checklist
- ☐ Holiday budget page (one total, split by category)
- ☐ Gift list with a spending cap per person
- ☐ Black Friday list: what you need, target price, max price
- ☐ Purchase log so you can track returns
- ☐ Gift tags and labels printed before wrapping day
- ☐ December calendar with events and deadlines
1. The holiday planner (print in early November)
Start with the budget. Pick one holiday total, then split it into gifts, food, travel, decorations and extras. Next to it, write a gift list with a cap per person. Our gift budget per person guide has ways to set those caps.
Add a December calendar with parties, school events and shipping cutoffs so nothing sneaks up on you.
2. The Black Friday list (print the week before Nov 27)
Write what you actually need first, then the gifts already on your list. For each item, note a target price and a max price. If the sale price isn't under your max, skip it. Log every purchase with the store and return deadline. Our Black Friday budget guide explains the method.
3. Gift tags and labels (print before wrapping)
Printing tags at home costs a sheet of paper or cardstock. Tips (more in how to print gift tags at home):
- Print at 100% (or "Fit to page" for A4) on cardstock if you have it.
- Fill in names before you wrap, so nothing ends up unlabeled.
- Keep a simple gift tracker (who, what, wrapped, delivered) next to the tags.
Sending cards too? Our guide on when to mail Christmas cards in 2026 lists the USPS send-by dates and how to keep your card list in one place.
Printing tips
- Do a test print on plain paper first to check margins.
- Writing on screen instead? Most PDFs work in a PDF annotation app on a tablet.
Common questions
Do I need all three? No. Many people only need the budget and gift list. Black Friday lists help most if you plan to shop the sales.
When should I start? Early November gives you time to set the budget before Black Friday.
If you'd like ready-made pages: the Holiday Printables Bundle 2026 ($9, instead of $13 bought separately) includes the Christmas Planner & Budget 2026 (holiday budget, gift lists, December plan), the Black Friday & Cyber Monday Shopping Planner 2026 (shopping budget, price tracker, gift list, purchase log) and the Holiday Gift Tag & Label Set 2026 (24 tags, 12 round labels, 8 blank tags, gift tracker) (details). Already own one? The Christmas Planner, Black Friday Planner and Gift Tags are also sold separately. Plain paper works fine too.
