2027 Biweekly Paycheck Calendar and 3-Paycheck Months

By Cedar & Ledger

If you're paid every two weeks, you get 26 paychecks in 2027, and two months will have three of them. Knowing which months those are lets you plan your budget on two checks a month and give the extra ones a job before they arrive.

Any dollar figures here are made-up examples, not recommendations. Pay dates can move around holidays, so check with your employer. This is general information, not financial advice.

Find your 3-paycheck months

Your extra-paycheck months depend on your first payday of 2027. Biweekly paydays repeat every 14 days, so there are only 14 possible patterns. For Friday paydays:

First 2027 Friday payday Months with 3 paychecks
Jan 1 January, July, December
Jan 8 April, October
Jan 15 July, December

If your payday falls on another weekday, count forward 14 days at a time from your first 2027 payday and look for months with three.

Paid weekly or twice a month?

2027 holidays that can shift paydays

New Year's Day is a Friday, Juneteenth is a Saturday (observed Friday, June 18), July 4 is a Sunday (observed Monday, July 5), and Christmas is a Saturday (observed Friday, December 24). Direct deposits around those dates may arrive a day early or late.

How to use the extra paychecks

  1. Budget every month on two paychecks, so the third one is truly extra.
  2. Decide in advance where each extra check goes: an emergency fund, a debt payment, or a yearly bill such as car insurance.
  3. Put the plan on your calendar now, so the money doesn't just disappear into everyday spending.

What to Do With a Three-Paycheck Month has a worked example, and How to Budget by Paycheck shows how to match each bill to a check. The free paycheck budget calculator does the split.

A template, if you want one

A calendar and a notebook work fine. If you'd like a spreadsheet, Cedar & Ledger's 2027 Paycheck Calendar & Bill Planner ($7, see the box on this page) fills in every 2027 payday from one start date, shows the bills each check has to cover and flags the extra-paycheck months. It works in Excel and Google Sheets and comes with example data. For a budget you can reuse any year, the Paycheck Budget Planner plans bills by paycheck. We'd earn from a purchase.
