Free Savings Growth Calculator (Compound Interest)
See what regular saving could add up to. Enter what you have now, what you'll add each month, the account's interest rate (APY) and how many years. You'll get the ending balance, how much of it is interest, and a year-by-year table.
It runs in your browser. Nothing you type is saved or sent anywhere. The numbers filled in below are a made-up example; change them to yours.
How the math works
- The APY is turned into a monthly rate: (1 + APY)^(1/12) − 1, so a full year of growth matches the APY.
- Each month the balance earns that rate, then your deposit is added at the end of the month.
- Interest = ending balance − everything you put in.
Example (made up): $500 to start, $100 a month, 4% APY for 5 years. You put in $6,500 and end with about $7,226.23, so about $726.23 is interest.
Savings rates change over time, and this ignores taxes on interest and any fees. It's a planning estimate, not financial advice or a promise of returns.
Save for several goals at once
The Sinking Funds & Savings Goals Tracker ($5) is a spreadsheet where you list each goal with a target and date, and it shows how much to set aside per month or per paycheck, with progress bars as you log deposits. Works in Excel and Google Sheets.
